Belle Vue Girls’ Historians help to create a major new exhibition which explores the stories of communities who have made Bradford home.

Year 13 Historians have been involved in helping the National Science and Media Museum develop its latest exhibition - ‘Above the Noise’. This major new exhibition, launched on 14 March, focuses on telling Bradford stories from the perspectives of the many varied and different cultures Bradford can boast from within its population. We have been working closely with William Gould, Professor of History at Leeds University to collect, record and collate real Bradford histories by interviewing family members and exploring their heritage. The girls’ interviews have been collated into a short film, which can be viewed, along with a number of images, as part of the exhibition.

This has been a fantastic experience for our students. Not only have they been working with recognised professionals in the fields of academia, media and museums but they have also unlocked heartfelt personal stories from within their own families and engendered a deeper level of respect between the generations.

The exhibition is open to the public until 19 June 2019.
